Sometimes bad days seem inevitable — you miss the bus, arrive late to work and so on… But the quality of your day is determined by how you handle these unforeseen events. Just because your day started bad doesn’t mean you have to adapt a negative attitude. Here’s 10 simple tips to have a better day.

  1. Start your day with a positive thought. If you haven’t had the best morning all you have to do is think one small positive thought – that can change your whole day!
  2. Remember to get a good night sleep. There’s nothing worse than waking up on few hours of sleep, feeling terrible at the thought of facing the day.
  3. Be kind to others. Hold the door for people, wish the employee in the supermarket a good day. or compliment your colleague.
  4. Listen to great music. Music affects your mood, so turn on some music that makes you want to dance around and sing along.
  5. Don’t say yes to more than you can handle. You can’t do everything, so focus on what is most important in your life and get better at saying no.
  6. Make a to-do list and tick it off. This will assure you to get things done, but it will also give you the feeling that you’ve been productive.
  7. Remember to treat yourself. End your day with a glass of wine, your favorite dessert, a good movie, or even some time with your favorite book. Looking forward to something at the end of your day will get you through an afternoon slump.
  8. Learn something new every day. New knowledge makes you feel proud, accomplished, and gives you a better self-esteem!
  9. Get active. If you’re having a bad day, all you have to do is take a walk or a bike ride. Being active releases endorphins, which makes you feel happy.
  10. Appreciate the little things. I believe that happiness is a combination of all the little things in life. Like the first taste of coffee in the morning, reconnecting with an old friend or getting a sweet message from your boyfriend in the middle of the day.
